No Cause for Alarm — Presidency Clears Air on Tinubu’s Ankara Stumble

The Presidency has dismissed concerns over reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stumbled during an official welcome ceremony in Ankara, Turkey, describing the incident as inconsequential and misrepresented.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Presidency clarified that the President did not collapse or suffer any health-related episode, stressing that there was no cause for alarm. According to the statement, the moment in question occurred as President Tinubu was stepping off a vehicle during the ceremonial reception and was quickly and firmly corrected without assistance.

Presidential aides accused sections of the public and social media of exaggerating the brief moment, noting that President Tinubu proceeded with the programme as scheduled, including bilateral engagements and official meetings, without any interruption.

“The President is in good health and fully engaged in his official duties,” the statement read, adding that attempts to frame the incident as a medical emergency were misleading and politically motivated.

The Presidency urged Nigerians to rely on verified information from official sources, cautioning against the spread of unverified claims capable of causing unnecessary anxiety.

President Tinubu is in Turkey on an official visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and the Republic of Türkiye, with several high-level engagements lined up during the visit.
