Benue Partners REA to Power Over One Million Residents with Clean Energy

The Benue State Government has announced a strategic partnership with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), a collaboration with the potential to deliver clean and renewable power to over one million people across Benue State.

The announcement was made at the 24th State-by-State Energy Roundtable, held on January 28, 2026, where the Benue State Government unveiled a clear, investor-ready pathway to unlock the state’s vast electricity potential under the Electricity Act 2023. The initiative marks a critical shift from policy formulation to tangible, state-level impact in power development.

The partnership is designed to attract private-sector investment, leveraging thousands of viable mini-grid sites spread across the state to supply electricity to homes, farms, hospitals, and businesses. Beyond improving access to power, the initiative is expected to strengthen agriculture and food production, enhance healthcare delivery, boost security, and generate employment opportunities for residents.

With this move, the Benue State Government reaffirmed its commitment to building a functional, investor-friendly electricity market that delivers sustainable growth and meaningful benefits to the people of the state.
