In a moment that underscored the power of purpose-driven success, Benue-born businessman and President of the Peter Adejoh Foundation, Dr. Peter Adejoh, has been named Philanthropist of the Year by Daily Asset Newspaper.
The award was presented on Thursday at the Conference Hall of Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, where leaders across sectors gathered to celebrate impact, service, and national development. For Dr. Adejoh, the honour was not just a recognition of wealth created, but of lives touched.
Speaking at the ceremony, Publisher of Daily Asset Newspaper, Dr. Cletus Akwaya, described Dr. Adejoh as a young man who, through diligence and hard work, rose above poverty without severing ties with his roots. According to him, Dr. Adejoh’s story is one of success that remembers where it started—and deliberately reaches back to lift others.
Dr. Akwaya revealed that Dr. Adejoh currently chairs a company with over ten subsidiaries, spanning banking, construction, renewable energy, agriculture, hospitality, and other strategic sectors of the economy. Yet, beyond boardrooms and balance sheets, he noted that Dr. Adejoh’s most remarkable investments are in people.
Through the Peter Adejoh Foundation, young entrepreneurs lacking start-up capital are identified, supported, and empowered to build sustainable businesses. “Many of those funded by Dr. Adejoh are today millionaires,” Dr. Akwaya disclosed, commending him for bringing real succour to humanity and redefining what it means to give back.
Responding to the honour, a visibly grateful Dr. Adejoh thanked the organisers for the recognition, stressing that his passion for philanthropy is deeply personal. “Helping people is not an obligation for me; it is a calling,” he said. He urged beneficiaries of support to extend the same hand of kindness to others, noting that true impact multiplies when generosity is shared.
The Daily Asset Annual Award and Lecture is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s foremost platforms for recognising individuals and institutions making significant contributions to national progress, leadership excellence, and sectoral transformation. This year’s recognition of Dr. Peter Adejoh stands as a testament to a simple but powerful truth: success finds its highest meaning when it serves humanity.
