Power Minister Apologises to Nigerians, Promises Swift Resolution to Outages.

Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has issued a public apology to Nigerians following a wave of crippling power outages that have disrupted homes, businesses, and critical services across the country.

In a candid address, the minister acknowledged the severity of the situation and appealed for patience, assuring citizens that urgent measures are underway to restore stability to the national grid. He expressed regret over the hardship caused, describing the outages as both “regrettable” and “unacceptable.”

Adelabu further disclosed that coordinated efforts involving key stakeholders in the power sector are already in motion, with a clear target to significantly improve electricity supply within the next two weeks. These interventions, he noted, are aimed at addressing both immediate technical challenges and underlying systemic issues affecting generation and distribution.

The recent outages have intensified public frustration, particularly among small businesses and urban households that rely heavily on consistent power supply for daily operations. Energy analysts point to longstanding infrastructure deficits, grid vulnerabilities, and operational inefficiencies as recurring factors behind such disruptions.

While the minister’s assurance offers a timeline for relief, stakeholders emphasise that sustainable progress will require deeper structural reforms, sustained investment, and improved sector governance.

As Nigerians await tangible improvements, the coming weeks will serve as a critical test of the government’s capacity to stabilise the power sector and rebuild public confidence in its management.
