The Benue State Government has announced the appointment of Dr. Terna Francis as the new Executive Secretary of BEQAEB.

The appointment, which took effect recently, was approved by the Executive Governor of Benue State as part of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening the education sector and restoring standards across schools in the state.

Dr. Terna Francis, a respected academic and education administrator, brings to the role a wealth of experience spanning teaching, policy implementation, and institutional management. Known for his commitment to educational excellence and innovation, Dr. Francis has over the years contributed significantly to initiatives designed to improve learning outcomes and teacher performance within Benue and beyond.

In his new capacity, Dr. Francis is expected to spearhead critical reforms in examination integrity, quality assurance mechanisms, and school evaluation processes—key components in the state’s broader drive to reposition education as a tool for sustainable development.

Stakeholders in the education sector have lauded the appointment, describing it as a strategic move that will reinvigorate the board’s operations and restore public confidence in the assessment and evaluation framework of Benue schools.

While addressing staff of the board shortly after assuming office, Dr. Francis expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged to uphold transparency, accountability, and excellence in the discharge of his duties.

“Our focus will be to ensure that every school in Benue meets the quality benchmarks required for 21st-century learning. We will build systems that reward merit, enforce standards, and prepare our students to compete globally,” he stated.

The Benue Education Quality Assurance and Examination Board plays a pivotal role in supervising academic standards, coordinating examinations, and ensuring compliance with government policies across educational institutions in the state.

Dr. Terna Francis’s appointment signals a renewed commitment by the government to revitalize the sector and deliver quality education to every child in Benue State.
