Dangote Refinery Cuts Petrol Price by ₦100

Yesterday, Dangote Petroleum Refinery reduced its ex‑gantry petrol price by ₦100 per litre, bringing it down to ₦1,075 per litre from the earlier ₦1,175 per litre. This adjustment marks the first downward revision after a recent series of price increases that had pushed petrol prices sharply higher.

The company also cut the diesel price at the gantry by ₦190, now selling at ₦1,430 per litre, reflecting a response to easing global crude oil prices.

Industry analysts note that the reduction follows a notable drop in international crude prices in recent days, helping to ease cost pressures that had previously affected ex‑depot prices.

While this adjustment at the refinery level offers potential relief for fuel marketers and consumers, the impact on retail pump prices will depend on how quickly the revised ex‑gantry rates are passed down through the supply chain.

This move highlights the influence of domestic refining on petrol pricing and could help moderate fuel cost pressures in the short term, even as wider global market forces continue to shape pricing in Nigeria’s fuel sector.
